Day 4

Hola, friends and family!

Today was our first official day of work! Before we started, we had a devotional with the staff of Little Hands where we heard a message from the evangelist and sang songs in both Spanish and English.

We then headed over to work on the tunnel. Mariluz and I measured and marked the wood while other members carried it, cut it, and drilled pilot holes in the wood.

During lunch, we met some of the LHBH families as well as a physical therapy professor from Canada. The whole team had a great time getting to know some of the kids and parents in the LHBH community.

We finished up the day by working on the drums and the rainwheel that will go on the treehouse. We cut PVC pipe for the frame of the drums and tested different buckets to see how they sounded. We made the rainwheel by putting beads in a tire. While this happened, one of the kids at Little Hands did my hair and the hair of many other team members.

After dinner, LHBH hosted a devo for the teens in the area. We struggled through conversations with the teens, but had a good time playing games, singing songs, and eating ice cream.

It was a hot and tiring day, but a very fulfilling one. I am so happy to be here. I can’t wait for the rest of the week to build stronger relationships and work hard on our construction project.
