Day 1

The team met in the airport at 4AM, bright (or rather, dark) and early. Our flight departed at around 6:30AM central time, and from there we flew to Miami, where we had a couple hours to get breakfast and maybe try to sleep. We left Miami at 9:30AM EST, and landed in San Pedro Sula at 12:30 local time. After that, we went through customs (a thrilling time), exchanged our American dollars for Honduran lempira, rented a car, and set out for La Ceiba. We stopped a few minutes down the road for lunch, and enjoyed authentic Honduran hamburgers and chicken nuggets at the local Burger King before making our way to Helen’s, our hotel for the night. There were plenty of naps and “road trip questions”, courtesy of Natalie, and we arrived at the hotel at 7:30PM. We ordered dinner, moved our bags to our rooms, and now are sorting through the logistics of tomorrow, when we will finally reach Trujillo.

4:00 AM Arrival at BNA!

Also shoutout to Mark for almost not getting through TSA and also customs. He powered through getting caught in security twice—the second time for his Bible being too big. What a trooper.
