Headed Home

Earlier this week we decided that, as a team, we would get up and "help" the farmers milk their cows before we left the ranch. So this morning we woke up to our alarms at about 3:50, put on our boots, and headed to the barn. When we first arrived, it was still dark and there were about three farmers that had already begun their day's work. So we watched for a while and tried to discern the technique to milking a cow, considering only Ryan had attempted this before today. Finally, we decided to just go for it and asked if we could help. They said yes and moved over so that we could join. We all attempted to milk the cow, except for Dr. Gwinn, who was kind enough to take the pictures seen below.

I wouldn't go as far to say that we were successful, but I would say that we all gained an experience that we will never forget! After we finished milking, we headed back to pack up before going to our last breakfast on the ranch. After breakfast, we took a group picture by the cross, said our goodbyes, and boarded the bus. We were on the bus at 6:20, and headed out for the long day on the road. We drove with very few stops until lunch at 12:00. HOI treated us to a lunch on the coast with a beautiful view, along with about an hour break from the road trip. After the hour, we loaded back up and headed to our hotel for the night. We arrived here at the hotel at around 4:30 pm. Once we arrived, we dropped our bags in our rooms, and headed straight to the pool to relax from the long day of travel. Tomorrow, we will begin our flight, back to the states and will say goodbye to Honduras. I know very little Spanish, but our friend Ricardo from PREDISAN taught us a phrase that I will always remember. The phrase is Haste Pronto, which does not mean goodbye, but simply "See you later!" Honduras, thanks for the new relationships, renewed relationships, and spiritual growth that has occurred this week! Haste Pronto Honduras!
