Green Light

Turns out the solar system has a pretty big problem. In the picture below you might be able to see how the black box on the right has a green light lit in its top left corner. That light indicates that it is receiving power from the solar panels. The black box on the left is connected to some of the panels and DOES NOT have a green light lit in the top left corner. So, as far as we can tell from looking at the numbers the system is only receiving about %40 or less of the charge that it should be receiving from the solar panels. Because the installation was done by a third party and is under warranty we didn't want to mess with it. Their technicians should be coming out next week to set things right. For our remaining time here we will see how the system performs with the power available at the reduced load.

Another interesting development has come through conversations with Samuel the estate manager here. He is very interested in trying to build our system with concrete instead of plastic tanks. I have mocked up a treatment system both in a drawing and in a 3D model (shown below) so that he can visualize what we would have to build. We are meeting with the masons and carpenters tomorrow to see if we can get a ballpark quote on what it would cost to do this all-concrete system.

We also plan to meet with a plumber tomorrow to install water meters on one of the dormitories here. That should allow us to get a better handle on how much water is coming into the dorm's sewage so that we can size a future treatment system there.

At this stage we are just tying off these many lose ends and gathering bits of information that may help in May.

Pray for positive growth in relationships and that we will leave here having prepared both the Village of Hope staff and the Lipscomb Peugeot Center team coming in May for success.
