The Little Boy With The Slingshot

Each day our team breaks up into groups for the day's work. There are pipe-gluing groups and there are measuring groups. As our group went out to glue pipes we saw a little boy that had a slingshot. He smiled at us and followed us for half the day. We tried to communicate with him, but with no luck. We made motions of pulling back a slingshot. He shyly smiled at us. We hand him a rock and he fired it into the trees. This three or four year old boy fires the slingshot; he knocks several leaves out of the trees. This was one of the coolest things I saw for the day; a little boy enjoying something so simple.

Work wise today was a very interesting day. We didn’t put a whole lot of PVC pipe in the ground, however it felt like so much was accomplished. We are all weak and sunburnt, I am tired and bug bitten. Our team is out in the hot sun all day long, but we are all still excited every morning when we get up. God is giving us the strength with in this project. Several things have unfolded over the past couple of days, the first revolving around our relationship with ADICAY. Our communications as engineers is not always the sharpest, and our solutions are not always the best ones. About mid day Ana the “leader” of ADICAY came to the village, she was pleased with our (the engineering team and her team’s progress) had made together. However, some communication opportunities had risen. Some portions of work were correct but they were not necessarily the correct solution at this time. In life it feels that God has many solutions and paths that we can take, but they are not always right for the timing. God’s plan for us is not one that we can know, but he leads us through it with communication with him. Our communication with God and trusting in him is identical of that with our relationship with ADICAY. ADICAY having done water systems in Guatemala for over 20 years they know the ends and out of theses type of projects. They know the best way to interact with the community, developing a best practice for the system and over all process of construction. Our team is entrusting in them because of this immense knowledge that ADICAY has. God has the maps and construction plans to our lives.
In life we face things that are really big and complicated, but it makes the small things in life so much more beautiful. Our lives have twists and turns, but those turns have flowers along them and we should enjoy them, because God placed them there.
